Greek Mythology in Portland, Oregon
Like Sisyphus condemned
to repetition—though rolling up
and down was not a rock, but
my sedan—I tried to scale
a driveway powder-packed
from an anomalous snow-storm.
Like that fated king, I slipped
the curse from drive to reverse,
let it slide to the base, but then,
because I could, I let it rest—
until compelled to return when
desire might overcome my lot.
