And just as before the bridge,
topsoiled water
is sweeping twig cities
free from their scaffolds,
mud-made walls debone
themselves
into untrackable wakes
which eddy and spit brief nests
onto the surface
where they swirl and foam under
looking from here like small hands
cupping air—
