If I Were the Cherry Wood Piano
If I were the cherry wood piano
I’d sit neglected
in heat and humidity, silent
most of the time.
I wouldn’t be able to disguise
the jangling if someone touched me
but I’d shiver and awaken, under
just to spill a broken melody.
