Submission Guidelines

These guidelines presume you have read about Rose Red Review. Please remember to submit work only through Submittable. E-mail submissions can become lost.

Please send a short bio with your submission. You need not send a cover letter. Please remember to remove any identifying information from your Word document and from the title of your submission, as Rose Red Review reads blind. Submittable will conceal any information you choose to include in the cover letter section, but it cannot conceal the information on your Word document, or in the title field. Any submission with identifying information in the document itself, or in the title field, will be declined, unread. In order to preserve anonymity when withdrawing a piece from your submission, please withdraw the entire submission and resubmit the remaining pieces to the “Resubmissions” category on Submittable.

Art:
4-6 pieces of original, unpublished artwork in .jpg, .gif, or .png format. Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Photography:
4-6 original, unpublished photographs in .jpg, .gif, or .png format. Simultaneous submissions are accepted. In order to preserve anonymity when withdrawing a piece from your submission, please withdraw the entire submission and resubmit the remaining pieces to the “Resubmissions” category on Submittable.

Fiction:
You may submit one piece of original, unpublished prose–7,500 words max–or you may submit 1-4 pieces of original, unpublished flash fiction. For flash fiction, do not exceed a collective 4,000 words.

Submit your files in .doc, .docX, or .wpf format, with 12-point type. Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Creative Non-Fiction:
Rose Red Review celebrates the magic in the everyday; as such, creative non-fiction is welcome! You may submit one piece of original, unpublished creative non-fiction–7,500 words max–or you may submit 1-4 pieces of original, unpublished creative flash non-fiction. For creative flash, do not exceed a collective 4,000 words.

Poetry:
1-6 original, unpublished poems. You may also send spoken word. Please include a note containing a link to an audio or video file. Unfortunately, Rose Red Review cannot host audio or video files for you.

A Note About “Original, Unpublished” Work:
If you would like to submit a piece that has been uploaded to your personal site or blog, a social networking site (like Facebook), or an art site (like deviantART), the editor of Rose Red Review will consider the piece “unpublished,” provided you remove it from such sites before you submit your work here.
